About the Artist

Mark Richmond is a contemporary painter whose artistic journey reflects a deep passion for creativity and self-expression.  

A recent graduate of the Milan Art Mastery Program, Richmond's love for painting was sparked in the mid-1980s by a captivating book cover that inspired him to dream of creating art himself.

However, it wasn't until 2000 that he formally began his artistic journey by taking his first oil painting class at a county college. This pivotal moment set him on a path of exploration and growth as an artist. 

Over the years, Richmond has dedicated himself to painting whenever possible, refining his skills through self-guided study and by following various artists on platforms like YouTube. Despite his progress, he often grappled with uncertainty about his artistic direction. Enrolling in the Milan Art Mastery Program became a trans-formative experience, providing him with clarity and confidence in his craft. 

Richmond's debut collection of paintings, Cosmic Dreams, embodies themes of connection and belonging. The collection explores the idea that, despite feelings of loneliness, everyone is part of a greater whole. Drawing inspiration from his lifelong fascination with science fiction, Richmond delves into the paradoxes of space—its vast emptiness yet infinite potential. He envisions the universe as a living entity, where each person is akin to a vital cell within a larger being, emphasizing the significance of every individual within the cosmic tapestry.

 Richmond's work is characterized by its imaginative depth and philosophical undertones, inviting viewers to reflect on their place in the universe while celebrating the power of creativity to bridge isolation and foster unity.
